Megatro Infrastructure Wired Transmissin Tower

Megatro infrastructure wired transmissin tower are characterised by a 'heavier' appearance due to the larger section sizes and conductors at the ends of the cross-arms using insulators in a near horizontal orientation. Megatro infrastructure wired transmissin tower are designed to carry the weight (vertical load) of the conductors, and transverse (horizontal) load from wind on the conductors, longitudinal conductor tension loads, earth wires and the structure itself. These structures are required at all changes in direction of the alignment greater than 2° or where termination sites have been predetermined to facilitate line construction and operation. These structures are designed to withstand high longitudinal loading on the structure, which cannot be accommodated by the lighter suspension structures.
 

Tension structures are also used in 'uplift' positions. Uplift describes the loading condition where in the absence of sufficient vertical gravity, loads may potentially cause a suspension insulator string to swing unacceptably close to the body of the structure under certain loading conditions, thus reducing electrical clearance. This situation can occur on a structure located at the base of a hill or steep terrain and may be resolved by using a tension tower with its different insulation configuration even though the loading conditions would not normally require one at this location. These structures may also be used for terminations at the end of the line, such as will occur on the approaches to the landing bays of the various substations.
