ANSI/TIA-222G (Standard for Antenna Supporting Structures and Antennas).

3 Design Wind Speed:
 i) Basic wind speed at 10m above the ground corresponding to an annual probability of 0.02 (50 years recurrence interval)
ii)Survival wind speed: 130kph & 220kph (3sec gust) (According to the wind speed of the respective districts).

4 Wind Load:
 The Horizontal wind force applied to each section of tower structure and appurtenances
(Platform and Antennas) must be calculated in accordance with TIA-222-G standards.

10 Steelworks:
For steel works BS 4360 or BS EN10025 & BS8100 are preferred but any other equivalent codes can be followed.

11 Materials:
Angles, Gusset/ Splice Plates:
Hot rolled products of non-alloy structural steel.
Yield Stress fy (minimum)  = 275 Mpa (mild steel)
400Mpa (minimum) (hot rolled high yield)

Steel bar to BS4449:1978
Yield stress fy = 250 Mpa (mild steel) or 460 Mpa (hot rolled high yield)

12 Galvanization:
Unless otherwise specified after completion of all fabrication process (including all drilling, punching, stamping, cutting, bending and welding) support steelwork, towers and tower steelwork, including nuts, bolts and washers shall be hot-dip galvanized and tested in accordance with the requirements of BS729 or ASTM 123M. Electro-galvanizing shall not be accepted. The minimum average coating thickness shall be 85 µm. The ingot zinc used for galvanizing shall comply with the requirements of BS 3436 or equivalent. All materials prior to galvanizing shall be free from oil, grease or any other substance which may adversely affect the quality of finish. All the bolts and screwed rods, including the threaded portions, shall be galvanized. The threads shall be cleaned of all surpluses on packing, clear of the ground and away from all materials that might stain or corrode the galvanizing.


13 Welding: BS 5135 or AWS D1.1

14 Bolts and Nuts:
Unless otherwise specified following grades of steel shall be applicable.
(a)Steel bolts for 12mm or below: ASTM 568 or grade 5.6 or Grade 275JR.
(b) Steel bolts for 16mm or above: ASTM 325 or Grade 8.8 or SAE 429.
(c) Nuts: ASTM 307 or Grade 275JR
(d) For Other Elements: Grade 275JR or ASTM A36

Unless otherwise specified bolts and nuts shall be of ISO Metric Black Hexagon to BS 4190 and shall be threaded ISO metric Course Pitch to BS 3643:Part2, Tolerance Class 7H/8g. All flat washer shall comply with the requirements of BS4320, Form E, Grade 4.6.Unless specified to the contrary they shall be 3mm thick. Single core spring washers shall comply with the requirements of BS 4464, Type B.

15 Anchor Bolts:
The anchor bolts shall be designed as per reaction forces the designer finds appropriate for his tower. The designer shall have the choice to consider plain or deformed bar.

16 Platform:
Towers shall have both rest and working platforms as per following specifications:

17 Illumination:
-Minimum luminous intensity shall be 32cd.
-Shall have optical lens arrangement to provide 360 degree illumination by red LEDs.
-Number of LED should not be less than 200.

18 Electronic Design:
-Voltage rating should be as low as possible (12V DC/AC)
-Power consumption less than 7 watt.
-Voltage across LED under all condition is 2V± 10%
-Operating temperature range is -10°Cto +60°C
-Photocell on/off.
-Shall be designed such that it can be given direct backup from battery.

19 Mechanical Design:
-Sealed water proofing unit.
-Casing made of special aluminum alloy (LM6), painted with
UV paint for atmospheric protection.
-Bird spike to keep away the droppings.
-Weight 2 kg (Approximately).
-Fire retardant.

20 Lightning Arrestor:
A lightning arrestor is a 16 mm diameter steel/brass rod of 2000 mm length with sufficient provision of fixing at tower top. The lightning arrestor shall be fixed on the tower top in a position just above the waveguides so that it does not impede climbing of a climber to the top of the tower. Also a 50 rm cable shall be connected between the lightning arrestor and the grounding/earthing connection.

21 Grounding:   Shall be less than 1 ohm. 

22 Tower:
The tower design shall be prepared using tower designing program. MS Tower/ PLS Tower/ TS Tower etc. which are verified, commercially available, comprehensive 3D structural engineering software with a direct emphasis on telecommunication tower design and analysis. Detailed printouts shall be attached to the report inclusive of input and output files. The wind load is applied to the tower in a full 360 degrees.

Our MEGATRO performs in-house design activities by PLS software or other software. Our Engineering Department is boasting of highly qualified engineering who are conversant with international codes and standards. The work is carried out with extensive use of CAE/CAD via a large of computer network. The computer hardware & drafting software are liked to the CNC workshop equipment for downloading of information thereby eliminating error and saving valuable production time.

After fabrication all towers are delivered to the galvanizing facility to be Hot Dip Galvanized. Towers are processed through the facility by Caustic Cleaning, Pickling, and then Fluxing. These strict procedures insure years of maintenance free towers.

Moreover, we offer cost effective range of development and installation service regarding as an additional installation service. These are further, designed for both government and civil communications and suitable for both far-off and short distance communications. For additional protection, we cover these with protective shield to prevent the radioactive fallouts.
